Gilly-SMP Server Rules
These rules apply to the Minecraft server, Discord, voice chat, claims, shops, teams, events, reports, and all official Gilly-SMP spaces.
By playing on Gilly-SMP, you agree to follow these rules and respect staff decisions.
1. Respect Other Players
Treat everyone with respect.
Not allowed:
- Harassment, bullying, threats, or targeted insults
- Racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, or any discriminatory language
- Slurs, hate speech, or extremist content
- Excessive toxicity, drama-baiting, or personal attacks
- Ping spam, chat spam, or intentionally annoying players or staff
- Impersonating staff or another player
- Encouraging others to break rules
Keep arguments out of public chat. If there is a serious issue, report it to staff.
2. No Cheating, Hacked Clients, or Exploits
Play fairly. Anything that gives an unfair advantage is not allowed.
Strictly forbidden:
- X-ray, cave finder, ore finder, or texture packs made to reveal hidden blocks
- Hacked clients, including Meteor Client
- Kill aura, reach, fly, speed, anti-knockback, auto-totem, or similar cheats
- Auto-clickers, macros, or bots used for unfair gameplay
- Freecam abuse to locate bases, caves, spawners, ores, hidden areas, or private builds
- Duping, economy exploits, claim bypasses, or bug abuse
- Using alternate accounts to bypass punishments or gain advantages
Usually allowed:
- Performance mods such as Sodium, Lithium, Iris, or OptiFine
- Shaders
- Cosmetic mods
- Simple Voice Chat
- Minimap mods, as long as cave mode, entity radar, and player radar are disabled
Ask staff first if you are unsure whether a mod is allowed.
3. No Griefing
Do not damage, destroy, modify, or ruin anything that does not belong to you.
This includes:
- Breaking or changing another player’s build
- Destroying farms, redstone, villagers, spawners, portals, roads, or public infrastructure
- Lava, water, fire, TNT, creeper, or wither griefing
- Placing blocks to annoy, trap, or block players
- Damaging spawn, shops, community builds, paths, Nether hubs, or public farms
- Building offensive, inappropriate, or intentionally disruptive structures near someone else’s base
- Sabotaging team bases, public projects, or event areas
Accidents happen. Report accidental damage to staff immediately.
4. No Stealing
Do not take anything that is not yours.
This includes:
- Items from chests, barrels, shulkers, furnaces, hoppers, item frames, armor stands, or shops
- Drops from another player’s farm without permission
- Villagers, mobs, pets, armor, tools, blocks, or currency
- Death items, unless the owner gives permission
- Items from abandoned-looking bases unless staff confirms they are free to loot
- Items from team storage unless your team allows it
Do not retaliate if someone steals from you. Report it to staff so it can be investigated and restored.
5. Claim Rules
Claims are for protecting active builds, not blocking other players.
Rules:
- Only claim what you actively use
- Do not overclaim large areas without a real build plan
- Do not claim around, inside, or directly beside another player’s base without permission
- Do not intentionally claim natural structures such as Nether Fortresses, Trial Chambers, Ancient Cities, Strongholds, End Cities, Ocean Monuments, or Woodland Mansions
- Do not claim public roads, spawn areas, Nether hubs, portals, community builds, or public farms without staff approval
- Do not use inappropriate claim names
- Do not use claims to trap, block, scam, or grief players
- Do not use claims to block access to another player’s base, portal, road, or project
Staff may resize, remove, or transfer claims if they are abusive, inactive, or blocking normal gameplay.
6. PvP Rules
PvP must be fair and consensual unless a server event clearly says otherwise.
Not allowed:
- Spawn killing
- Killing AFK players
- Repeatedly targeting the same player
- Combat logging
- Teleport trapping or teleport-kill baiting
- Portal trapping
- Bed, claim, or home trapping
- Killing players during trades unless both players agreed to PvP
- Using bugs, claims, or server mechanics to force unfair fights
- Starting fights only to harass or annoy players
If PvP is abused, staff may disable your PvP access or apply additional punishments.
7. Bases, Land, and Player Property
Respect other players’ space.
Rules:
- Do not enter private bases without permission if the owner has asked people to stay out
- Do not build too close to another player’s base without asking
- Do not use someone else’s farms, villagers, portals, storage, or redstone without permission
- Do not move into abandoned bases unless staff confirms they are abandoned
- Do not modify public builds unless you have permission or are clearly helping maintain them
- Do not create lag machines or intentionally harmful redstone systems
When in doubt, ask first.
8. Team Rules
Teams are part of the SMP, but team rivalry must stay within the rules.
Rules:
- Private team Discord channels are only visible to members of the matching team and staff
- Do not leak private team messages, coordinates, plans, screenshots, strategies, or storage information without permission
- Do not use alternate accounts or outside methods to access another team’s private information
- Do not pressure members of other teams to leak private information
- Do not use team channels to organize griefing, stealing, harassment, cheating, exploiting, or rule-breaking
- Do not sabotage another team through griefing, theft, spying, or harassment
- Do not use team rivalry as an excuse to break normal server rules
Friendly rivalry is allowed. Spying, leaking, harassment, and sabotage are not.
9. Economy, Shops, and Trading
Trade honestly.
Not allowed:
- Scamming
- Fake shops
- Fake bids
- Misleading prices
- Refusing to pay after agreeing to a trade
- Taking from shops without paying
- Selling stolen items
- Abusing bugs to gain money, items, or shop stock
- Using alternate accounts to manipulate the economy
- Using Discord trades or auctions to avoid server rules
Shop owners must keep their shops clear, functional, and not intentionally misleading.
10. Keep Chat, Names, and Builds Clean
Keep the server appropriate for the community.
Not allowed:
- NSFW, explicit, sexual, graphic, or disturbing content
- Inappropriate skins, usernames, nicknames, item names, claim names, signs, books, maps, banners, or builds
- Advertising other Minecraft servers or server IPs
- Spam, flooding chat, or excessive caps
- Malicious links, unsafe downloads, scams, or phishing
- Political or religious arguments that become disruptive
- Hate symbols, slurs, extremist content, or offensive jokes aimed at protected groups
Staff may remove inappropriate content without warning.
11. Voice Chat Rules
Voice chat must follow the same standards as text chat.
Rules:
- Use Discord or Simple Voice Chat responsibly
- Avoid excessive background noise
- Use push-to-talk when possible
- Do not scream, ear-rape, spam sounds, or play loud music
- Do not harass, threaten, or insult players in voice chat
- Do not record players without permission unless the recording is needed as evidence for a serious report
- Do not join voice channels only to annoy people
Voice chat abuse may result in a mute, kick, or further punishment.
12. Events and Community Areas
Server events and community builds may have extra rules.
Rules:
- Follow event instructions from staff
- Do not sabotage events
- Do not steal event items or rewards
- Do not grief arenas, minigames, roads, hubs, public farms, or spawn builds
- Do not abuse event mechanics for personal gain
- Do not use alternate accounts to enter giveaways, claim rewards, or gain advantages
Event-specific rules override normal gameplay rules during that event.
13. Reporting Problems
Report issues to staff instead of handling them yourself.
Use:

Report:
- Theft

14. Staff Decisions and Enforcement
Staff may take action when rules are broken or when behavior harms the server.
Possible punishments:
- Warning
- Mute
- Kick
- Jail
- Item removal
- Economy penalty
- Claim removal
- PvP disable
- Account lock
- Temporary ban
- Permanent ban
Punishments may depend on:
- Severity
